NATIONAL STANDARDS
The curriculum was designed by teachers to meet
the federal standards of the No Child Left Behind initiative. While
focusing on Life Sciences and Health and Nutrition issues, teachers using the curriculum have
also integrated the unit in areas of Language Arts and
Mathematics.

Veggie
U is interested in partnering with public
and private school districts throughout the United States
as well as Department
of Defense Schools internationally.
The curriculum was created by an interdisciplinary
group of teachers, nutritionists, and physicians. Designed
to meet all of the federally mandated standards of No Child Left Behind, the curriculum can be fully implemented
by districts as an integral part of their classroom instruction.
If you are a Superintendent or
Principal interested in integrating the “Soil and Nutrition” curriculum
in your school or district, please contact Veggie U.
ASSESSMENTS
All students participating in the Veggie U curriculum
are assessed both pre- and post-curriculum. Likewise,
Veggie U will be following up with each student a year after the curriculum to document long-term behavior
changes in making healthy eating choices.
Parents
of the children who have completed the “Soil
and Nutrition” program are also encouraged
to provide Veggie U with feedback regarding behavior changes, not just for the student in class, but likewise
how, or if, the program has changed the family’s
eating habits.
Veggie
U also collects teacher evaluation/assessments regarding
the curriculum to ensure a continuous improvement
process to improve the learning experience for the
students.
It is the goal of Veggie U to document the effectiveness
of the curriculum, not only for improvement of the
4th grade curriculum,
but to also provide the context for expanding our offerings to other grade levels.
